About

Anne Masters gained a Bachelor of Arts (Communication) from the University of Canberra, Australia In 1993, she began painting ceramics in Sydney in 1995. From 1998, Anne worked in the Canberra arts scene where she ran an arts business, in a private gallery as well as for local arts government. In mid-2010, she returned to study to develop her own artistic practice with reference to ceramic artist Les Blakebrough as well as French art deco glassmaker Ren Lalique. In December 2011, she was awarded a Master of Visual Arts from the Canberra School of Art at the Australian National University.
In 2012, Anne was awarded an Artist in Residence with the International Ceramic Research Center Denmark. In 2014, Anne exhibited in her first group show at FORM Studio and Gallery NSW Australia. In 2015, she participated in Protean, with fellow Claybodies members at Nishi Gallery, Canberra. Anne was also selected for Canberra Potters Society, Surround/s. In June 2016, Anne was selected as one of 50 artists from Australia to feature in PIN SIX at Australian National Capital Artists Gallery. Since September 2017, Anne owns and operates Australia’s tiniest gallery known as GOST – Gallery of Small Things.
In 2024, Anne was commissioned by Artduo and its client Novotel Australia to create public artwork as part of their $20 million renovation of Novotel Sydney City Centre. She created two artworks featuring 22 hand made, slip cast porcelain birds inspired by the name of the restaurant, Birdie, and its interiors.
