Jan Alexander’s ceramic works express her deep connection to the natural world and her concern about the impact of human actions upon both nature and our fellow humans.

Jan explores the synergy of form, texture, and glaze, crafting patterns of movement and reflective surfaces that capture and interact with light, to create an ambience which invites contemplation, to instil a tranquil tone.

Jan is a ceramic artist and yoga teacher based in Ballarat, where she completed the Graduate Diploma of Ceramics from Federation University. Currently hand building and wheel throwing with recycled clay and mid to high fire stoneware, her individual pieces are decorative, functional, and often sculptural. Jan has a particular interest in gloss surfaces and the natural uniqueness of Shino glazes.
