About

Monica studied sculpture and painting at La Esmeralda Academy of Fine Arts in Mexico City (1976-1979). For the past decade, Monica has been creating sculptures based on the plasticity of the human form, implying a synergy between body and soul. In them, she tries to combine memories, imagination, and a touch of reality with a pinch of music in their souls. She creates sculptures from deep emotions, and with the strong desire that they will touch peoples’ hearts. Monica has been regularly exhibiting sculptures in Melbourne since 2010, has won a few prizes, and has now added a variety of small ceramics ornaments to her repertoire. When sculpting she works predominantly in clay, which is sometimes cast in plaster, cement mix with marble, or bronze.
